Wow, the first week back to work after Christmas break kicked my tail. It wasn't enough that I had to get back into a school groove, but it was a hella-busy week, too. Lots of note giving and lecturing, meetings with clubs and parents, after school practices and basketball games, etc., etc. What's more, it was an emotional week as well, with a scare at my husband's job (they fired almost 200 people Wednesday), my daughter's thinking she lost 100 dollars in cash which is supposed to go toward her space camp trip in the spring, my mother-in-law's passing out for seemingly no reason and then spending two days in the hospital, and my husband's nearly losing a very sick uncle.
Anyway, all of that meant that until tonight, I've not had any time to knit, and when I was actually at home and might have knitted a bit, I was comatose, nothing more than a lump on my side of the couch. I've finally managed to pick up the Special Olympics scarf tonight, but I've not done any actual knitting -- instead, I'm forcing myself to weave in those bloomin' yarn ends from each color change. Those ends are plaguing me, preventing my wanting to finish this project quickly. *sigh* However, it's probably a good thing that I'm not trying to knit tonight, or at least until the Saints vs. Lions playoff game (WHO 'DAT?!) is over, as it's got me screaming and throwing my hands in the air or over my eyes... whichever of the two reactions each play demands. If I were knitting, I'd probably end up frogging whatever "progress" I made.
I do have one success to share... I found the greatest magnet ever at my local bookstore today and treated myself to a small happy:
